mute swimmer is the principal musical project of the berlin based british artist guy dale. with a changing cast of collaborators and players he has described the project as being 'governed by grace,
doubt and sabotage'. as fascinated with extending the songwriting form as he is in dismantling it - his songs are approached with the tactics of an artist. intense, poignant and ironically funny by
turns mute swimmer create beguiling music hewn from disparate strands of art, folk music and alternative rock in singular fashion.
new LP air itself is due for an early 2017 release and features contributions from daniella grimm (earnest and without you), vincenz kokot (my sister grenadine), yan fabre and dorian taywood.
second (LP, 2014) and present perfect (EP, 2015) were recorded as a full band - with bernhard bauch (drums), felix koch (trumpet) and nicolai schorr (bass)
single song against itself / some examples is available on itunes and 7" vinyl through bleeding heart recordings, piccadilly records where it was a single of the week. other releases include old
tricks (w/ own road, 2013), orientation (2011) and mute swimmer (2010).
guy dale is an artist working in sound, performance, installation, photography and painting. he is known for his work under several monikers including mute swimmer and dala. he has also released and
played music as 1000 herzog and funés . he has exhibited widely with recent performances and shows in berlin, madrid, new york and london. he was awarded a phd in fine art practice in 2002 and is
based in berlin.
